Predictable

If there is another thing that prevents people from communicating well is the other person’s predictability. If we have observed and known and at some point been scalded at how the other person reacts to certain issues we can already role-play how a conversation with the person would go. Convinced that that is how it is going to be and also knowing the input would not be new or something we would not like to hear, we then decide the person is not the one we are actually looking for to talk to.

Intentional relationships however seeks out to be interested anyway. The goal is to make the person feel their thoughts matter and that they have at least a space of being considered. Intentional friendships seek to be considerate outwards.

Just a thought…

  1. You have raised very good issue here,

“we then decide the person is not the one we are actually looking for to talk to”.
Have you taken proper care to explain the person what type of conversation you prefer????????

    It must begin from us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoyable experience to read your posts.
Please feel free to visit my blog, because, as far as I know, communication is two way process and for keeping any relaitonship for longer period of time active involvement of both the person is very much vital……….

    Just a thought…(MY THOUGHT)

    1. Except that in a normal flow of things, we rarelt do introduction on “what type of conversation we prefer”.

At some invisible rule of relating, we call for sensitivity over such things. Except that not everyone is gifted or practices sensitivity.
